May 21, 2008 - America's Past Time

Had my first opportunity to go to a baseball game yesterday evening. The weather has been cool and chilly so bundled in winter coats and blankets we went to see the Erie SeaWolves a AAA affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. They were playing the Bowie Baysox.
This is a view of the front gate of Jerry Uht Park where the SeaWolves play.

The skies were blue and the sun was shining but it was not contributing much warmth to the day but a large crowd had gathered to see the game. Most people had dressed warmly but there are always people that never dress for the occasion and you wonder how they survive the cold temperatures while sitting in the stadium. Jerry Uht Park is only a few blocks from the lake and the cool breeze off the still very cold water can really drop the temperature.

This is C. Wolfe the mascot for the Erie SeaWolves as he was dancing on top of the dugout.
This is the Kid's Stampede, where they let the kids run across the outfield during the middle of the inning.

Unfortunately, the SeaWolves lost the game 10 to 5. A disappointing ending to a wonderful game. I came home and thawed out my frozen fingers. I hope my next visit to a game will be on a warmer day.
